The TaylorMade SIM2 Max driver is the most forgiving out of the three. Similar to the SIM2 driver, the Max has a large face profile. It also has a mid launch and the highest MOI. This provides more forgiveness because the face twists less.
What makes this club different is the split mass weighting system. Instead of a 16g placed on the inertia generator, they have implemented a 24g weight. This increases the launch in addition to the MOI.
When compared to the SIM Max driver, the primary difference between this year and last year’s model is again the weighting system. the SIM Max had more weight options, while the SIM2 Max has a fixed weight.
Who should use the TaylorMade SIM2 max driver?
Considering that this is the most forgiving driver, most golfers will prefer this club. It is a perfect fit for high handicappers who are looking for mid launch, but ultimate forgiveness. This golf driver is very similar to the SIM2 Max driver, except for its draw bias. In order to accomplish this, TaylorMade had to restructure the weight, completely rebuilding the system.
The SIM inertia generator is located closer to the heel, with a 22g weight. This shifted the weight farther back and closer to the heel, repositioning the center of gravity and providing excellent forgiveness for slices. If you’re looking for the best driver for slices, then the TaylorMade SIM2 Max D should definitely be near the top of your list.
Just like the SIM2 and SIM2 Max drivers, the difference between this driver and the SIM Max D is the weight system. All three of the TaylorMade SIM2 drivers are lighter than the standard sim drivers due to a greater carbon sole and carbon crown.
The only downfall is the lack of forgiveness for hooks. This club is built to counter slices only, and provides no support if you make contact on the toe or swing in-to-out. In fact, it will makes shots like these ten times worse than they would be with a neutral flight bias club.
WHO should use the TaylorMade SIM2 MAX D driver?
If you’ve been golfing for years but still end up searching through the woods after every drive because of a slice, then this driver comes highly recommended. Or, if you’re a beginner golfer who is trying to learn the ropes, this club would be great for you. The most common struggle for golfers is dealing with a slice, especially for new golfers.
Out of the three TaylorMade SIM2 drivers, this one is best for attacking a slice at its core, but the worst for game improvement. So, if you are in dire need of a driver that will counter your slice, then I’d suggest using this driver.
As you correct your swing and gain proper form, then checking out the other two options would be best, but this club will provide instant relief for beginners on their tee shots.
