In fact, you could still use a regular flex shaft if you’d prefer. Some pros still prefer to play regular flexes because it feels best to them and offers the best results. So, if you’re a fast swing speed player feel free to make the choice based on your personal preference.

Instead of having a 7-12 yard difference in your 8 iron and 9 iron, you now have a 12-15 yard gap. This means that if you have around 150 yards into the green but hit your 9 iron ~145 and your 8 iron ~160, you’re left trying to figure out if you take a little off of your 8 iron or pump your 9 iron.
This may make it hard to find consistency, and could even cause less accuracy. However, do I think this is a major concern? Not really, and if anything it could simply increase your skill and ability with each iron.
Notably, Mizuno also offers a SW with 54 degrees of loft and a LW with 59 degrees of loft. Personally I wouldn’t purchase these and would choose to use premium wedge sets like Vokey or Jaws, but if you’re trying to save some money the JPX 921 wedges will still get the job done.
Who should use the Mizuno JPX 921 Forged irons?
The Mizuno JPX 921 Forged irons are not an easy club to hit, so I recommend only using them if you are a low handicap. The compact profile and shorter blade length makes these clubs very hard to use if you have an inconsistent swing.
However, if you are a more advanced player, this Forged iron will help you get the spin, control, and distance you’re seeking. As your handicap drops the execution of each shot is important, and these irons will help you with every hit.
